Skilled Trades

We have moved to Davis Campus and are settling into our new, state-of-the-art building. Come and see us at the Skilled Trades Centre, 'A' wing.

Sheridan’s skilled trades programs provide students with practical skills and knowledge in industrial and/or construction trade sectors. Learning in well-equipped, state-of-the-art labs and workshops provides students the opportunity to apply theory with hands-on projects, making them better prepared to enter today’s fast-paced work force.

Upon graduation students will have learned in industry-standard workshops, developing the skills of their chosen profession. Grads leave Sheridan ready and able to begin an apprenticeship.

2020 Skills Sheridan

Skills Sheridan Competition 2020 is March 4th!

Sheridan Skills is an annual event that engages our students in a day-long skills competition. Where this exciting new tradition began in Skilled Trades, we are now seeing it expand to include other FAST schools and Sheridan College as a whole.

Competitors will work through one discipline-specific challenge to compete for cash prizes AND bragging rights. If you've ever wanted to test your skills and knowledge, this competition is for you!

Skilled Trades represents at 'A Future that Fits'

We were so pleased to be able to represent Sheridan at the 2nd Annual “A Future that Fits” event held at the Velodrome in Milton. The event welcomed over 1,700 grade 10 students from the Halton District School Board. Students enjoyed hands-on activities and learned about Specialist High Skills Major programs as well as the successful careers these programs can lead to in this day-long event.

David Bradley, representing Sheridan College and the School of Skilled Trades, was onsite to help students explore and learn more about SHSM programming and career opportunities in the skilled trades. A big thank you to the organizers of 'A Future that Fits' for inviting us to attend and educate high school students about careers in the Skilled Trades, and to David Bradley for representing the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology.

Collaboration on Eco System Art

The School of Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship partnered with FAAD and Sheridan's Creative Campus to create a unique greenhouse supporting an ecosystem services project. This type of project defines a truly collaborative spirit which we anticipate will be the first of many collaborations to come.

Providing welding & electrical expertise, STC was proud to participate in this inter-disciplinary project, the fabrication of which was revealed at the Skilled Trades Centre on November 22nd. What happens next? Watch for an upcoming Insider article about this project.
