Sheridan’s General Arts and Science – University Profile is designed to build your academic and critical thinking skills.

Pathways to success

This program prepares you for university and the workplace. You'll take a range of courses in the humanities and social and behavioural sciences, and develop analytical skills that will help you succeed in your future studies at university. Academic advisers will help you transition to college life, and will work with you to plan for your future academic Arts and Science career at university.

Transfer opportunities

Students who complete the two-year University Profile program can take advantage of Sheridan’s transfer agreements with the following universities: University of Toronto Mississauga (ON), Athabasca University (AB), Bishop’s University (QC), Canisius College (NY), Daeman College (NY), D’Youville College (NY), Thompson Rivers University (BC).

Additional information

  • Stay for ONE YEAR and earn a certificate and possible credits for university transfer.
  • Stay for TWO YEARS and earn a diploma and credits for university transfer (see Transfer Options below for details).

Transfer Options

University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM), ON

  • Graduates from the two-year General Arts and Science (University Profile) can earn up to 5.0 transfer credits towards an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree.
  • Must have a cumulative program GPA of 3.0.

York University, Toronto, ON

  • Graduates from the two-year General Arts and Science (University Profile) entering any Bachelor-level program in the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Science at York will be granted a block of 45 transfer credits of the 120 credits required for a York undergraduate degree.
  • Must have a cumulative program GPA of 3.0 (B or 70%).

*When you complete the two-year University Profile college program, you can enter as a third-year student at the following six universities*:

Athabasca University, Athabasca, AB

  • You'll receive transfer credits equivalent to 60 credit hours.

*Bishop’s University, Lennoxville, QC

  • Must have minimum 3.0 GPA to enter the four-year degree programs (120 credit hours) in Humanities and the Social Sciences.
  • Students completing the Sheridan program with a 3.0 GPA or higher receive 30 transfer credits; students with a GPA of 3.5 receive 45 transfer credits.

*Canisius College, Buffalo, NY

  • You'll receive transfer credits equivalent to 60 credit hours.
  • If you complete one year of the program, you'll receive 30 transfer credit hours.

*Daeman College, Amhurst, NY

  • You'll receive transfer credits equivalent to 60 credit hours.
  • If you complete one year of the program, you'll receive 30 transfer credit hours.
  • Admission and acceptance of transfer credits in certain programs where there are special requirements shall be determined by Daeman College based on the same criteria required for non-transfer students.

*D’Youville College, Buffalo, NY

  • You'll receive transfer credits equivalent to 60 credit hours.
  • If you complete one year of the program, you'll receive 30 transfer credit hours.

*Thompson Rivers University, Kamloops, BC

  • You'll receive transfer credits equivalent to 60 credit hours.
  • If you complete one year of the program, you'll receive 30 transfer credit hours.

*In addition, although Sheridan has no formal agreement with York University, you'll be eligible for admission as a second-year student if you successfully completed the University Profile (four terms) with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

*Note:

  • If you meet these requirements, you'll receive credit for up to five courses.
  • Some programs require a higher GPA for admission or have supplementary application requirements.
  • York may change the 3.0 stipulation at their discretion.
  • If you apply after one year you'll receive up to 2.5 credits.

*Please be aware that admission requirements may vary from university to university and that transfer agreements will refer to specific programs at a given university.
